In short: A few drops of glycerin in the water of the Christmas tree stand can help your Christmas tree look fresh for longer. In addition, glycerin is a practical helper in winter for wool sweaters, leather, and window panes.
Keep your Christmas tree fresh for longer
For your tree to make it through the holidays well, it needs one thing above all: enough water. Here is how you do it:
- Cut the trunk fresh before setting it up.
- Fill the stand with water and add a few drops of glycerin from PROFI-Clean.
- Check the water level daily and refill – a tree can draw a lot of water in the first few days.
- Do not place the tree directly next to the heater.
Glycerin is supposed to retain moisture in the needles. Many people have used this trick for years – but there is no guarantee against needles falling out, fresh cut wood and sufficient water remain crucial.
Soft wool sweaters
Add a few drops of glycerin to the wool detergent when washing wool clothing. Glycerin keeps fibers supple, so your favorite sweaters feel soft. Always follow the care label.
Care for leather shoes and gloves
Dampness and cold take a toll on leather in winter. Rub clean, dry leather items thinly with glycerin and then polish them with a soft cloth. This keeps the leather supple. Test it beforehand on an inconspicuous spot.
Window panes in winter
After cleaning your windows, wipe them down with warm water and a few drops of glycerin. The thin film can reduce fogging and the formation of frost flowers on the inside.
